Chrome capture privacy

The extension captures a page only when you press Annotate this page. It does not read your browsing history, cookies, passwords, or JotPins login tokens.

A capture includes the rendered page image, its address, title, size, and scroll position. Private information visible on the page can appear in the image. Review it before saving it to a project.

The extension stores your JotPins account ID and display name locally. It keeps one temporary capture in browser-session storage for up to 30 minutes; it becomes unavailable after that period and is removed on the next extension operation or when Chrome closes. Version 0.1.2 also keeps up to 20 source-tab references and their captured addresses in session storage for up to 24 hours, so Continue on website can return to the original tab. These references stay in your browser and are cleared when you disconnect or Chrome closes.

The image is uploaded to JotPins only when you choose Save page & annotate. It is then available to people with access to that project and follows the project’s access and deletion controls.

Chrome’s debugger permission is used to capture the page at its current layout. It is attached only for the capture and released afterward. The extension does not run background browsing or advertising analytics.
